Return to the DAP

One of the really big deals this year is the game next Monday between the Durham Bulls and the Toledo Mud Hens at the renovated Durham Athletic Park.

The Bulls have just put up a link with parking info under the "events" menu choice. Expect more.

In the meantime, if any of our readers would like to put up a DAP story (limit 500 words or so) just put it up as a comment here and, if I can figure out how, I'll start a series of posts. Or send as an email. Best address is probably jchriswise@nc.rr.com.

  1. I saw a message some singer I have never heard of is doing the national anthem. I guess that is supposed to mean things to someone.

On another topic, I guess the Vasquez injury must have been pretty bad, he got released. Wonder if that means we get a replacement. Too bad, really.

  2. Trying to chase down the Vasquez story. May be more to it than has been stated so far. Need to check out Neil Solandz's pre-game broadcast and then maybe chase some more. At least one commenter on RaysProspect says story is flat wrong and that Vasquez has not been released.

  3. Matt Eddy confirmed it in a comment at BA:

"Apparently a team *can* reinstate and release a minor league player on the DL. The Rays did so with Virgil Vasquez. It's right there in black and white.

This is a special case, though, seeing as Vasquez's injury was not sustained in a game or other team-related activity."

Kind of an odd way of explaining it, sounds like he just got an email or fax from the Rays and didn't get to ask anyone for details. If I hear anything else I'll let you know.
